Free Implant Program Brings Smiles and Confidence to Many People

Do you know that tooth loss is a common problem that affects millions of people around the world?

According to the World Health Organization, the estimated global average prevalence of complete tooth loss is almost 7% among people aged 20 years or older. For people aged 60 years or older, a much higher global prevalence of 23% has been estimated. Losing teeth can be psychologically traumatic, socially damaging and functionally limiting.

Fortunately, there is a solution that can help restore your oral function and appearance: dental implants. Dental implants are artificial replacements for the roots of your teeth that support a fake tooth (crown). They offer many benefits over traditional dentures or bridges, such as durability, natural look and feel, prevention of bone loss, and stability of adjacent teeth.

However, not everyone can afford or access dental implants, especially in low- and middle-income countries where oral health services are limited and expensive. That’s why the Dental Center of Nam Can Tho University Medical Center - Saigon Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, in partnership with the World Academy of Bone Surgery (WAUPS), has organized a free implant program that benefited many people who suffered from tooth loss. The program took place from August 7 to 10, 2023, and was supervised by renowned experts and professors from the United States, Canada, and Korea.

The free implant program was a part of the Dental Center’s mission to improve oral health and enhance the smiles and confidence of its patients. The program offered advanced implant technology and high-quality dental care to those who needed implant transplantation. The Dental Center screened and evaluated the oral function of each applicant before the program and selected the most suitable candidates to participate.

The program also provided an opportunity for experts and doctors to exchange information and share experiences on dental treatment by implant transplantation. The representatives of WAUPS praised the Dental Center’s modern equipment, spacious clinic, professional staff, and implant transplantation technique. They expressed their admiration for the Dental Center’s achievements and their gratitude for the cooperation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Van Cuong, the Chief Medical Officer of Nam Can Tho University Medical Center, said that he was honored to receive support from WAUPS. He added that this was the first international cooperation event organized at his Medical Center. He hoped that this would pave the way for more collaboration in the future.

The free implant program was a great success that brought benefits and happiness to many people. The Dental Center of Nam Can Tho University Medical Center - Saigon Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery would like to thank WAUPS, the experts, the doctors, and the patients for their participation and contribution. The Dental Center is committed to providing excellent dental services and improving the quality of life for its patients.
