On June 27, 2023, Nam Can Tho University Medical Center is expanding its cardiovascular services with the opening of a new minimally invasive procedure also known as (Stent Implantation). This procedure, which was established in partnership with Cho Ray Hospital, will offer patients a less invasive alternative to open surgery for the diagnosis and treatment of blood vessel problems.

A milestone for health care in the Mekong Delta region

The partnership of cardiovascular procedures to Nam Can Tho University Medical Center is a significant step forward for the health care of the people in the Mekong Delta region. These procedures offer a number of benefits over traditional open surgery, including:

• More options for treatment: The procedure can be used to treat various conditions, such as coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, aneurysms, stroke and more.

• Enable precise navigation and manipulation of catheters and wires inside the blood vessels.
• Monitor the blood flow and pressure during the procedure.

At the ceremony, Dr. Ly Ich Trung, Associate Director of Cardiovascular Intervention at Cho Ray Hospital, and Dr. Tran Chi Dung, Associate Director of Cardiovascular Intervention at Nam Can Tho University Medical Center, led their teams in a successful coronary artery intervention on a patient with cardiovascular disease. The patient was fully awake and monitored after the procedure.
